My singing meme

1. When did you first start singing?

Oh heck, I can't even remember...it was when I was somewhat young. Probably around 11 or 12.

2. What did your family do to encourage you?

Nothing, actually. I haven't really pursued singing as a serious hobby until several months ago.

3. Who else in your family sings?

Mom and dad can sing, and Kyler's pretty good too.

4. Who are your musical inspirations?

There are a lot of them, but my main inspiration is probably Johnny Cash.

5. What kind of music do you listen to today?

I listen to a variety, but most of it consists of country music and classical piano music.

6. What embarrassing songs might I find on your MP3 player?

None, I don't have an MP3 player.

7. Where would you most like to perform?

My garage. /shot

8. Who would you most like to open for?

I have no clue. Probably some amateur band; definitely not anyone professional. I'm not near good enough.

10. If you weren't singing, what would you be doing?

Definitely photography, and I'm doing that even more than I'm singing.

11. Do you play any instruments?

I'm best with the guitar; been playing that for almost five years (RIP first guitar pick :'( ) but other than that I can sort of play the piano and I used to know vaguely how to play the harmonica, but I can't remember anything about that anymore.

12. If you could dabble in another genre of music, what would it be?

Well, I mostly sing country and folk music, so I'd probably go for rock. But I don't exactly have the most powerful singing voice, so I think I'd probably end up sticking with the music I currently sing. Still, it'd be fun to sing rock.

13. What genre of music can't you stand to listen to?

Well, this one's tough. Normally I'd say "rap", but even some of that sounds good (as long as it's 90's rap; I was walking home the other day and I heard this stupid modern rapper singing something about effing their friend's girlfriend and how it felt good *shudder*)

14. What hidden talents do you have?

I'm an adequate slow dancer, not the best not the worst. I can do that whole twirl and dip thingy (not sure what it's called or how to describe it). I've been doing basic hand-to-hand combat training for about as long as I've been playing the guitar, but I made that into a more serious hobby about a year ago. And I may be sort of small, but I can lift things pretty well.

15. Do you enjoy writing music and/or lyrics?

Heck yeah! The lyrics are usually the hardest part, but the entire process is really fun.

But it's a real pain when you can come up with lyrics but not music, and vice versa.

Ironically, I play a lot of country but I don't really write a lot of country. My music is mostly just acoustic alternative, kind of like what you would expect to hear in a coffee shop. I do write country music on occasion, but most of my music is the coffee shop stuff and folk music.

I swear, aside from the Beastie Boys, and a very few others, any rap past the 90's is just BAD, DISTASTEFUL, and ANNOYING.

Yes and twis practically the only singing of Jonathon I have ever heard...Although he did try to teach me guitar...which I should still bother him into teaching me xP
